There is a big gap between high-end architecture and basic drafting. We work in this space, balancing beauty and practicality to create homes and spaces that people love.
We design your home or space with you working closely with qualified building designers and architects who advise on all structural details. We direct how your space will look, feel and flow and we engage technical expertise to prepare construction drawings. We design and thoroughly document all interior details and provide direction on all elements that are essential to draw a project together to create a cohesive and stunning result.

Director and Principal Designer Mikayla Rose established Heartly in 2009. She now leads a team of Designers, support crew and consultants at Heartly.
We are down-to-earth, passionate and we love what we do. From our studio in Abbotsford, Melbourne, we design projects locally and in other states and regional areas throughout Australia.
Design direction on all projects is overseen by Mikayla, supported by Principal Designer, Shannen Conway and Interior Designers Brydie Duncanson and Gemma Sesta.
Since 2017, Shannen Conway (Bachelor of Design, Interior Design) has partnered with Mikayla to establish Heartly as one of Melbourne's leading design practices. As Principal Designer, Shannen leads the design team and manages projects across all areas of the company with disciplined creative ambition. Shannen has extensive experience across every phase of the design process - from initial concept and ideation to construction and final delivery - she brings both technical expertise and a refined aesthetic to every Heartly project. She is particularly passionate about the complexities of design, finding innovative solutions to transform challenging spaces. Her true passion lies in residential design, where she focuses on creating personalised environments that not only reflect clients’ unique identities but also enhance their lifestyle and well-being.
Brydie Duncanson (Bachelor of Interior Design) is a dynamic and highly valued member of the Heartly design team, bringing warmth, joy and professionalism to the studio. Known for her keen eye for detail and intuitive design sensibility, Brydie is dedicated to enhancing both the design experience and project outcomes. She takes a thoughtful approach to understanding each client’s personal vision, ensuring that every project reflects their unique needs and aspirations. With her creative expertise and meticulous attention to detail, Brydie ensures that each space is not only visually striking but also deeply personal. She creates bespoke design solutions that resonate with each client.
Gemma Sesta (Associate Degree in Interior Design and Decoration) is an intuitive Interior Designer with a distinctive creative vision and firm belief in the profound impact thoughtfully designed spaces can have on mood and well-being. Gemma is committed to developing concepts that reflect her clients' unique identities, blending creativity and individuality to create environments that are personalised, timeless, and full of character. Her expertise in furniture design, coupled with her confident use of colour, materials, and textures, enables her to transform ordinary environments into exceptional, iconic spaces. Passionate about working with residential clients, Gemma values the personal connections forged through the design process and is dedicated to enhancing the living experiences of those she works with.
